Photography Fieldtrip; Santa Barbara, California, “The American Riviera”

Being from Southern California, I grew up experiencing places and doing things many people around the world plan for their dream vacations. I admit, when I was younger I took it all for granted. Nearby beaches, mountains, deserts, museums, theme parks, Hollywood, and world class dining. Where else can you surf, and snow ski the same day?  But, as I started to travel around this wonderful world of ours, I came to realize how lucky I am to live right here. I want to share some of California and my future travels with you, through my lens. And where else

Photography Field Trip; Shooting the Super Blue Blood Moon

This morning I jumped out of bed at the most nonsensical hour (for me anyway). Why would I subject myself to such distress? I was determined to get spectacular photographs of a rare astrological phenomenon, a super blue blood moon. For those of you who weren’t exposed to the hype about this event, let me explain. This early Wednesday morning, January 31, 2018, a lunar event occurred that hasn’t been witnessed in the U.S. since 1866. Over 150 years! My Photography Journey; Where It Began and Where I Am Now

When I talk to others or read blogs from those who are into making images, it’s common that most of us have had this interest all our lives.  Almost every blog has a post from the author of this type where they share how they got into photography.  An account to the reader of how it has become such a large part of their lives that they now are compelled to write a blog about it. I’m going to do that too. I’ve been into making photographs since I can remember.  There is just something about being able to capture

New Year With The Biggest Goals Ever

Today is the first day of 2018.  I’ve been contemplating the goals I want to achieve for most of 2017.  It’s not that I didn’t want to achieve them in 2017, I just always seem to want to have a proper start date with any objective I feel the need to accomplish.  That could be the first day of any given month, a major holiday, whatever.  Heck, I even used tax day years ago to quit smoking. So, here it is.  The “proper” start date.  January 1, 2018. The goals for this year:  Start a blog; Finish my degree in

Here goes!

Hi, I’m Michael and this is where it starts.  My first blog post.  It feels so serious. I’m not sure why I feel like that. I’ve been on Facebook and written lots of “What’s on your mind?” posts, no problem.  That’s like blogging right? This is different though. I pretty much don’t know you. It’s easy to write posts when you know who’s gonna be reading them.  Even if my Facebook friends think what I write is dim, they don’t roast me.  But out here in the blogosphere (don’t think people say that anymore) I’m wide open. Oh well, sticks and stones…
